Calling him a sellout because he isn't only friends with people the Huffington Post likes? I never heard of this columnist so let's assume he threw out this troll-bait just to generate some traffic. "I read that his first guest on his new season starting tomorrow is Ann Coulter. I do not mean to interfere with Bill's sex life, but give me a break. Either she is totally self promotional or she is a psychopath spewing hatred across the media. In either case, Maher's audience should cringe at the sight of her on his show. Maher's explanation about his "libertarian" views requiring him to portray all points of view is a cop-out. He calls himself a libertarian because he does not have the courage to say that he may be a progressive. Most of the people who call themselves libertarians don't even understand what a libertarian believes in. But "Mr. politically incorrect" wants you to think that he is a libertarian." "Like a scholarly lemming, she compulsively reads inaccurate antievolutionary sources and accepts them on account of their reinforcement of what she wants to be true." Well, to be fair that's exactly what proponents of Evolution do too. And they have taken to redefining evolution so it doesn't require proof of evolving ... but that is a different website, isn't it? Bruce Gordon and David Berlinski respond to Downard here. "s homeotic genes turn out to be more and more universal, the control they exercise in development turns out to be less and less specific…. [T]he universality of homeotic genes is supposed to be due to their presence in a common ancestor, but the preponderance of the evidence suggests that the common ancestor lacked the features that those homeotic genes now supposedly control. From a Darwinian perspective this is a serious problem. According to neo-Darwinism complex gene sequences gradually evolve by conferring selective advantages on the organisms that possess them. But gene sequences confer selective advantages only if they program the development of useful adaptations. If a primitive animal possessed homeotic genes but lacked all of the adaptations now associated with them, then those genes must have originated prior to these adaptations. How then, did homeotic genes evolve?" Meanwhile this is helping to sell a lot of Ann Coulter books everywhere.|W|P|115619260404244228|W|P|Further Discussion of Ann's Comments On Evolution|W|P|perfectommy@gmail.com8/24/2006 08:33:00 PM|W|P|Blogger Diego|W|P|Plan B was approved today, I would like everyone's opinion on it and how you think it will affect society, go to http://conservative-majority.blogspot.com and leave your comments.8/16/2006 12:25:00 PM|W|P|Chief Scientist|W|P|In her bestselling and controversial book, Ann Coulter examines the abysmally poor US public education system. One of the elements of the overall failure of public schools is the fear on the part of students that their fellow classmates may injure or even kill them. An unprecedented level of national concern about crime has ensued following incidents of high-profile violent crimes perpetrated by and against youth. As evidenced by several fatal school shootings in rural and suburban communities across the United States, school violence is not just an isolated problem occurring in destitute, inner-city neighborhoods. Rather, violence by and against youth is affecting nearly all young people across the country and its impact on youth and their communities is devastating and longlasting. Sadly, many school administrators do more to hide their violence and crime problems than they do to protect their students. For instance, in New York City, there existed strong evidence that up to 1/3 of the public school system’s crimes were not reported by administrators and principals. In addition to the demand for solid, structured violence prevention, there is an equal need for services to support students who are witnessing, experiencing, and otherwise being affected by violence. Teachers, school administrators, and others who work with youth have observed a vicious cycle: Young people who have been victimized often end up engaged in violence again, both as perpetrators and victims. I am seldom rewarded, but I was when I was provided my first look at and hearing of the irrational ravings of Ann Coulter. Since I am not a masochist, that will be my last. I am glad, however, that I watched and listened as long as I did, because of what I learned about Coulter and her followers, and about a media and overall society that engender popularity of an ignorant, anti-scientific, anti-democratic bigot. After a July 7 inquiry regarding numerous errors in the footnotes of Coulter's latest book, Godless: The Church of Liberalism, Media Matters for America received a response from Random House's Steve Ross in which he called charges of plagiarism "trivial" and "irresponsible." Media Matters outlined what it described as a "plethora of problems" with Coulter's endnotes, among them distorted source statements, omitted refutations, and wholly contrived facts. It also highlighted Coulter's representation of source material almost twenty years old as being contemporary.|W|P|115518658423095073|W|P|Coulter Footnotes Draw Scrutiny|W|P|perfectommy@gmail.com8/09/2006 10:05:00 PM|W|P|Chief Scientist|W|P|The International Herald Tribune (IHT) has requested a substitute for this Friday's "Non Sequitur" comic showing Ann Coulter in a burqa.

"We know the name of this comic is 'Non Sequitur.' Nevertheless, we felt it was obscure to many of our international readers as well as

potentially offensive to some of them," said IHT Deputy Features Editor Judy Burtt, when contacted by E&P.

In response to Burtt's statement, "Non Sequitur" creator Wiley Miller said in a Wedneday e-mail: "It's the right, even obligation, of every editor to run or censor anything they deem appropriate for their newspaper, no matter how vague the rationale might be."
